Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Instill 1-2 drops every 4-6 hr. May be increased 1-2 drops every 2 hr for the 1st 24-48 hr, then gradually reduce frequency according to signs of clinical improvement.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin, other quinolones. Not to be used together w/ antibiotics eg, topical β-lactam antibiotics.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment if hypersensitivity reaction occur. May cause punctate &/or toxic ulcerative keratopathy. Closely monitor frequent or prolonged use in dry eye patients, or w/ sensitive corneal conditions. Advise patient not to wear contact lenses if the eye is red. Not to be used to treat contact lenses-related irritation. Benzalkonium Cl may be absorbed by contact lenses. Patients who wear contact lenses & whose eyes are not red should wait at least 10 min after instilling the drug prior to insertion of their contact lenses. Avoid long-term use; may cause superinfection. Not to be used during pregnancy. Discontinue use during lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Pain, itching, redness on the conjunctiva. Chemical conjunctivitis/ocular keratitis/particular/facial edema, foreign body sensation, photophobia, blurred vision, tearing, dryness, eye pain.
